WipVIP TARS Bangkok
Tintin Cooper/ Piyarat Piyapongwiwat
TARS Unlimited and BLANCHE Collective present WipVIP, a show bringing together two artists, Tintin Cooper and Piyarat Piyapongwiwat within a new installation created for this occasion. The installation serves as a backdrop for the artworks, fostering a dynamic conversation among participants about growth, expansion, and the changing nature of art as a commodity.
Tintin Cooper and Piyarat Piyapongwiwat challenge the boundaries of art, society, and architecture, while also engaging with broader themes of economic growth, social mobility, and the complex role of the art market in modern society. Each artwork, displayed in this setting, gains new meaning, emphasizing the tension between art as a form of expression and art as a luxury asset.
The two artists in this exhibition, each with their own narrative, display their pieces against the backdrop of this expanding gallery, inviting us to consider how art is valued and what it means to acquire, own, or collect it.
The impact of social and economic expansion and the larger forces of gentrification and development are also explored in this exhibition. It serves as a poignant reminder that expansion, while often a sign of progress, can also lead to displacement and loss of cultural heritage.

Neighbour
Bangkok Nov 25th
Supples and BLANCHE are thrilled to present Neighbour, a solo exhibition by Thai artist, Apichaya Wannakit (Thailand, 2000), on view from 25th November 2023 until 7th January 2024.
Neighbour is the first major exhibition of painted works by Apichaya Wannakit and marks the artist’s second solo show in Thailand. This exhibition showcases a new body of work, created exclusively for this occasion, that explores themes of identity and belonging.
Within Neighbour we witness a visual commentary on Wannakit’s deep relationship to her native country, Thailand, and are exposed to the everyday scenes that relate to both her personal and artistic development. Depicting an ongoing evolution and shaped by her engagements with the objects that populate her world, Wannakit contextualises her connection to her homeland and the rich cultural elements that bind her to this current stage in her life.
Wannakit’s distinctive style captures the essence of commonplace items, her work is a reflection of her experiences and observations, blending traditional techniques with a contemporary approach. In Neighbour, Wannakit uncovers the transformation of both her surroundings and herself, borne from interactions with these objects. Her paintings offer a unique viewpoint, revealing how a change in perspective, of these seemingly ordinary elements woven into the fabric of life, prompts a distinct perception and individual experience.
At this juncture in her career, Wannakit's artistic maturity is palpable, reflected in the nuanced exploration of identity presented in this new series of work.
